When it comes to home value, presentation is everything and nothing detracts more from a property’s street appeal than a stained, faded and neglected driveway or path.
Many people who invest in a new or updated driveway or path aren’t aware that over time the original sealant becomes ineffective, and that after a few years the brand new look has faded away.
That’s why a colour sealant is so important. It means the surface can be cleaned far more easily – staining is less likely to occur, and any stains that do occur are simpler to remove.
Product and Application
A high quality sealer is required to do a job that will last (although we do recommend that driveways and paths are resealed every 12 months to keep them looking fresh). The right bonding and chemical mix is very important to ensure that the product seals well.
With the right sealer in your hands though, the application is relatively simple. As with all jobs, preparation is paramount and this starts with the removal of the old sealant and cleaning of the surface.
This is followed by the application of the new sealant, which when done in conjunction with the right preparation work will result in a beautifully finished seal that is fully bonded and free from delamination, whitening or cracking.
Unlike many other businesses who sell similar start-up business kits, you get full, hands-on training from someone who runs his own colour sealing business. Grant will give you all the technical detail you need to know and you can also come onto the job site with him as many times as you want to – although the system is definitely not difficult to learn and most people only need one day on the job to feel confident they can do it themselves.
Each job has 3 distinct phases, and we’ll cover each of these in detail during your training:
- Pressure cleaning and stain removal
- 1st coat of reseal
- 2nd coat of reseal
A typical 80 square metre job will take around 8 hours to complete, spread over 2 days to allow for drying time. The generally accepted charge for a colour seal job is $22 per square metre, so for this job the customer would be expected to pay $1760. Your actual cost of consumables would be less than $700, meaning you make a very nice profit of around $1000 from 7 hours work.
